A walk from Florida to Seattle!
Hanging out with our new friend Camilo.

Today we met a young man who is on an amazing journey: he's walking from Florida to Seattle! His name is Camilo Ruiz, and he has been walking for over 5 months, since leaving his home near Orlando, Florida on March 9th. (FYI, here's the video where he announced his plan to walk across America.)

I've been following Camilo's journey on his YouTube channel, and he made it to Butte this week, and we met up with him over in Rocker (just west of Butte) today. He's heading out into the wilderness for the next few days, taking a backroads route from our area to the Missoula area (120 miles away).

Camilo is doing this to support The Singletons, an Arizona nonprofit that supports single-parent families facing cancer, and also to make a personal statement about free will and how any of us can choose to change the course of our lives if that's what we want to do. Half of all donations go to The Singletons, and half goes to supporting his journey (food, supplies, and accommodations along the way). You can make donations at the Journey Across America to Help Others GoFundMe page. We're helping support his journey, and if you can help, too, that would be great.

We knew when Camilo was in our area because he has a public tracking page where anyone can see his progress at TheRatTracker.com. When we saw he was leaving Butte this morning, we knew he'd probably be passing through Rocker, so we went over there to meet him. It was fun for the dogs to meet him, and I enjoyed discussing his journey and getting to know him. He has a great upbeat attitude about what he's doing!

Camilo plans to end his walk across America with a trip to the top of the Space Needle in Seattle, and in addition to YouTube, you can follow his progress on Facebook, TikTok, or Instagram.

Go Camilo! Good luck, enjoy your journey, and we look forward to following along and seeing you high atop the Space Needle this fall.

Saying goodbye to the pack on the way out of Rocker.
