Welcome to our website
After weeks of preparation, the new website for Jamie Samoyed's pack is finally up and running! This post covers a few things you'll need to know to get the most out of this site, with links to more detailed how-to articles that we've put together for specific topics.
/// this will be the go-live post
/// note pack history tag and content migrated from my personal blog
/// in migrating content, I re-read Life after Jamie, which I posted four months after Jamie's death; the outpouring of love for Jamie from all of you still brings tears to my eyes; that reaction is quite literally why we're here today, and why this site exists; I had thought that I would stop posting dog photos and stories after Jamie died, and instead I decided to embrace this and make documenting Jamie's pack a big part of my life going forward, as it had been in the past
/// explain; we lost a lot with the latest attack by Facebook; I had spent days setting up the Jamie Samoyed's Pack group two years ago, with dozens of photo albums of Jamie and Alice and the cats, and then we posted over 1000 posts the last two years, all of which has been deleted for reasons Facebook can't or won't explain; All of the great comments and discussions on those posts were also deleted
/// that will never happen again; and luckily, I'm very organized with my backups so I still have all of the original photos and videos we posted, and I've backfilled some of those on this site
/// how to use the site - link to About page?
/// One difference - no Like or Reaction button, just comments
/// this will be different; note pluses and minuses; on a laptop computer, the differences from Facebook are pretty minor; on a phone, the differences are greater because there isn't a phone app for the blogging platform I'm using
How it works
/// here's a high-level overview of how things are going to work going forward
/// once all the content is staged, we can publish the Welcome post, sending ourself an email, and use that to show with screenshots what happens; note that we're NOT ending email by default, will do so occasionally; note the explanation in Signing Up page
